The new coach of Real Mallorca, Luis García, arrived this afternoon in Palma excited about the promotion project. The Asturian will lead his first training session on Wednesday at Son Bibiloni.
Luis García is already in Mallorca. The new coach of Real Mallorca landed this afternoon on the island and was welcomed by Sergio Marty, the right-hand man of sporting director Pablo Ortells. The Oviedo native, whose signing was officially announced on June 22, arrives with the mission of returning the team to La Liga.
“I am very excited and eager to return to a place where I have been very happy. With a lot of enthusiasm to work hard and do things well. Hopefully, we can achieve beautiful things,” declared the former Mallorca player upon arriving at Palma airport.
A project with confidence in the sporting direction
The Asturian coach has expressed his confidence in the club and the sporting direction. “We need to build a good team and then, we'll see. I have a lot of confidence in the club and the sporting direction; they are working very hard to create a good project,” he stated.
His arrival marks the beginning of a new era following the departure of Martín Demichelis. After his time at Las Palmas, a team that will be a rival of Mallorca this season in the Segunda División, the objective is clear: to regain the lost category. “We need to take it step by step; the category is very difficult. We need to build a good team and then, we'll see,” commented the coach.
First training sessions and pre-season
The players will undergo medical examinations on Monday and Tuesday before starting training under the Asturian coach. Luis García's first training session will be on Wednesday at Son Bibiloni. The first friendly match will be on July 18 against Pep Lluís Martí's reserve team. Afterwards, the team will travel to Marbella on July 24 for a training camp where they will play two matches. The pre-season will conclude with the Trofeu Ciutat de Palma against PSG on Wednesday, August 5.
So far, the only signing is Adrián Fuentes, although the coach has already requested Estanis Pedrola. In terms of departures, ten players have already left, the latest being Leo Román. Given this situation, the coach will have to rely on several players from the reserve team to start the pre-season.
With promotion as the top priority, the club is confident that Luis García will be able to build a competitive team from the outset. The Mallorca fans hope that this will be the season of their return to the elite.
