The Balearic public television will broadcast a special live programme this Sunday, July 26, from Binissalem for the third edition of Sa Batummm, which will gather over 450 percussionists from 30 municipalities.
IB3 Televisió joins the celebration of Sa Batummm once again, the popular culture gathering that will turn the streets of Binissalem into a stage of rhythm and tradition next Sunday, July 26. The regional channel will offer a special live broadcast starting at 17:55 to bring this event, which has already become a staple in Mallorca's festive calendar, closer to viewers.
The third edition of the event reaches a record level of participation. According to the organisers, more than 450 percussionists, distributed across 32 groups from 30 municipalities of the Balearic Islands, will take part in the day. Additionally, the gathering will feature invited groups from Girona and Barcelona, enhancing its interterritorial dimension.
Sa Batummm was born from the collaboration of the colla de dimonis Sa Fil·loxera de l’Infern, which drives the initiative with the support of the Ajuntament de Binissalem. The proposal combines giants, fire beasts, demons, and percussion in a route that transforms the municipality into a meeting point for lovers of popular culture.
Journalist Joana Maroto will host the IB3 broadcast, which will include street connections by Marta Ferrer and Laura Arias. The public television team will follow the most spectacular moments of the day, from the giant parade to the demon displays, aiming to provide detailed coverage for viewers who cannot travel to Binissalem.
For the residents of the Raiguer region and the rest of Mallorca, Sa Batummm represents an opportunity to enjoy a cultural manifestation that gains more followers each year. The Ajuntament de Binissalem has planned a special traffic and security operation to facilitate access and mobility during the celebration.
The IB3 broadcast is part of its commitment to promoting Balearic intangible heritage, according to sources from the channel. The special programming will start half an hour before the official beginning of the activities, scheduled for 18:00, and will continue until the main events are covered.
Sa Batummm has become an unmissable event for percussion and folklore enthusiasts. In previous editions, the event managed to gather thousands of attendees, and forecasts for this year point to a similar turnout, driven by the record participation of musical groups.
