Francisco Contreras, Niño de Elche, will perform on August 6 in Binissalem as part of the Nits a la Fresca series, which includes ten concerts and two exhibitions until September 10.

The multidisciplinary artist Niño de Elche, a reference of musical avant-garde, will be the main attraction of the Nits a la Fresca in Binissalem. His concert, scheduled for August 6, is the most anticipated in a programme that started last Thursday with the Lipinski Quartet and will run until September 10.

The series, held every Thursday, features ten musical proposals ranging from classic jazz to rock, as well as roots and experimental music. Additionally, it includes two exhibitions: one by British artist James Lambourne, whose work interacts with Mediterranean nature, and a collective exhibition from the Can Gelabert gravat workshop, which will open on July 23.

A summer of concerts in Binissalem

After the opening with the string quartet, next Thursday, July 9, it will be the turn of the Fisherman Friends Jazz Band, a trio that pays tribute to acoustic music from the 1920s to the 1950s. With Quentin Bardi on bass and mandolin, Miquel Àngel Bestard on tuba and trumpet, and Gori Matas on accordion and piano, they will offer a repertoire that travels from early jazz to Bahamian calypso.

On July 16, the Litteros project, which brings together pianist Miquel Brunet with reciters Caterina Bibiloni and Guillem Simó, will explore the sound of eros in Catalan. A week later, on July 23, the Lambourne Project will take the stage, featuring Jordi Tugores (guitar), Sergio Llopis (piano), and Mary Lambourne (voice), coinciding with the opening of the exhibitions.

July will close with Los Atunos Rojos on the 30th, a band that fuses rock, punk, and folk. And August will kick off with the main event: Niño de Elche, who has performed several times in Mallorca and is also scheduled for another date on the island at the end of the year as part of the ME_MMIX festival.

Roots and classical music to close the series

The folk group Tall de Vermadors, which will celebrate its centenary next year, will perform on August 10. On August 20, classical music will take over with a concert yet to be detailed. The programme is completed with performances by Joana Gomila and Maria Jaume, among other artists, who will provide the grand finale to Binissalem's musical summer.

For the residents of the Raiguer region, the Nits a la Fresca have become an unmissable event. The concerts are free and take place in various locations around the municipality, such as the church square or the courtyard of Can Gelabert. The exhibitions, also free, can be visited until September at the Sala Imperial and the Sales Florentines.

The Binissalem Town Hall has highlighted that the programme focuses on diversity of styles and on local and international artists.

“We want the Nits a la Fresca to be a meeting point for all audiences, with quality proposals ranging from classical music to experimental,” said the councillor for Culture.

To not miss anything, the Town Hall recommends checking the municipal website and social media, where schedules and possible last-minute changes will be updated. The Nits a la Fresca in Binissalem promise a summer full of music, art, and freshness.
