An altercation in the Palma neighbourhood of Pere Garau ended with a man injured in the chest and a damaged vehicle. The incident occurred on Friday night after a dispute at a pedestrian crossing.

A violent altercation shook the Palma neighbourhood of Pere Garau on Friday night. What began as a discussion at a pedestrian crossing ended with a man injured in the chest and a car with body damage, according to the account of an eyewitness.

The incident started when a young man, walking through the area shouting and talking to himself, apparently under the influence of alcohol, crossed the road with the pedestrian light on red. A vehicle that was driving correctly continued on its way, provoking an angry reaction from the pedestrian, who scolded the driver for passing.

Tension escalated within seconds. The man, according to the testimony, threw a bottle at the car, hitting the bodywork. Immediately afterwards, one of the people in the vehicle got out and a fight broke out in the middle of the street, which was recorded on video by the witness.

After the confrontation, the young man, who had taken off his shirt, was seen with a wound to his chest. The witness suggests that the injury may have occurred when one of the car's occupants threw a piece of the broken bottle at him, although this detail has not been officially confirmed.

Throughout the altercation, the aggressor kept shouting: “I am Colombian and I stand strong”, according to the account. The incident has reignited the debate about safety in Pere Garau, a neighbourhood that several residents describe as increasingly affected by episodes of violence and a growing sense of insecurity.

Residents lament that a traditionally family-friendly and quiet area is experiencing a deterioration in community life in recent years. The images from the video, recorded by a witness, reflect the tension experienced and the concern of those who witnessed the incident.

So far, there have been no reports of any arrests or that those involved have reported the events to the National Police. The video of the altercation has been exclusively shared on OKBALEARES.
