The Civil Guard has arrested a man in his 50s, residing in France, as the alleged perpetrator of an offence against privacy. The images found on his mobile phone focused on the intimate areas of the municipal pool worker.
The Civil Guard has detained a French citizen in his 50s, residing in France, as the alleged perpetrator of an offence against privacy. The arrest occurred after the victim, a lifeguard at the municipal pool in Sóller, reported that the man was repeatedly photographing her without her consent.
The events date back to July 31, around 1:15 PM, when the worker alerted 112 after noticing that a user of the facilities was insisting on capturing images of her intimate areas. According to her statement to the officers, this situation had been recurring for several days.
A patrol from the Local Police of Sóller arrived at the scene, located the suspect, and interviewed him. During the intervention, the man voluntarily handed over his mobile phone and allowed the officers to review the image gallery.
The examination of the device revealed that the detainee had accumulated numerous photographs of the lifeguard, taken on different days. The images were not general snapshots of the premises but were specifically directed at the young woman's intimate parts, indicating a repeated behaviour and an apparent obsession with the victim.
After the initial actions by the Local Police, on August 2, the proceedings were forwarded to the Civil Guard, which took over the investigation. Once the evidence and the content of the phone were analysed, the officers proceeded to the arrest of the suspect as the alleged perpetrator of an offence against privacy.
The Local Police of Sóller accompanied the victim to formalise the complaint and to provide a statement regarding the events she suffered during the days she was allegedly photographed without her consent.
The Civil Guard is keeping the proceedings open to determine if there are more images of the victim or if the detainee may have carried out similar actions with other people. The arrested individual was placed at the disposal of the judicial authority once the police actions were concluded.
