From October 1 to 15, Palma hosts the first edition of Cuines del Món, a gastronomic route with nearly 50 international restaurants offering special menus for 25 euros.

The Balearic capital is preparing for a culinary journey without a passport. The first edition of Cuines del Món lands in Palma from October 1 to 15, with a gastronomic route that will bring together nearly 50 international restaurants spread across different neighbourhoods of the city. The establishments will offer special menus that allow diners to explore countries, cultures, and culinary traditions without leaving the island.

The initiative, organised by the Federació Empresarial de Restauració de les Illes Balears (FERIB) in collaboration with TasteMallorca.es and supported by the Ajuntament de Palma through PalmaActiva, aims to energise local dining during October, contribute to the de-seasonalisation of consumption, and create a new gastronomic event linked to cultural diversity and neighbourhoods.

For the residents of Palma, this route presents an opportunity to discover culinary corners that often go unnoticed in the usual gastronomic circuits. The idea is for the movement not to concentrate solely in the centre but to extend to areas like Son Gotleu, Pere Garau, or the Polígono de Llevant, where communities from all over the world coexist.

Fixed menus at 25 euros and free participation for restaurants

Each participating restaurant will offer a fixed menu for 25 euros, excluding drinks, with dessert as an additional option. The proposal must be representative of their cuisine, adapted to the format and conditions set by the organisation. Participation is free for establishments, although it will be subject to a selection and validation process to ensure a diverse and quality offering.

The route is aimed at both residents of Palma and the whole of Mallorca, as well as families, groups of friends, and culinary enthusiasts. It also seeks to involve the international communities residing in the city, who will be able to see their culinary traditions represented and act as advocates for the establishments. And, of course, tourists visiting the island in October will also find an incentive to explore the city beyond the beach.

A decentralised route to energise the neighbourhoods

Cuines del Món in Palma will take place in a decentralised manner, with restaurants located in different neighbourhoods and areas of the city, within the usual meal and dinner hours of each establishment. The organisation aims for the route to generate economic activity in areas with less usual tourist traffic and to avoid concentration in spots like the Paseo Marítimo or the Plaza Mayor.

For restaurants, the route represents a promotional avenue that will allow them to present their offerings to new audiences, increase their visibility, and attract customers through a menu specifically designed for these dates. The initiative connects dining, culture, diversity, leisure, and economic activity, and contributes to positioning Palma as a plural gastronomic city with an international offering throughout the year.

The gastronomy of Palma reflects its diversity: from the Peruvian cuisine of the Andes to the flavours of Southeast Asia, including Italian pasta and Mexican tacos. With Cuines del Món, locals will be able to journey through these cultures without leaving the city, all for a fixed price that encourages trying multiple establishments.

A website to organise the gastronomic route

The official website of Cuines del Món in Palma will be available from next week and will be the central point of information for the route. It will include a list of participating restaurants, menus, locations, and contact details for each establishment. It will also feature an interactive map that will allow the public to organise their route by areas of Palma or by types of cuisine, consult available proposals, and select the restaurants they wish to visit between October 1 and 15.

The organisation recommends keeping an eye on social media and the website for updates on confirmed restaurants, which will be announced in the coming weeks. The selection will aim to represent the greatest possible diversity, from African to European cuisines, including Asian and American. In short, an opportunity to eat well, explore neighbourhoods, and celebrate the cultural diversity of Palma, all for 25 euros. Who said globalisation didn't have a tasty side?
