The National Police have arrested ten people in Manacor accused of drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal group. During the raids, one kilo of marijuana buds, 550 plants, 40 grams of cocaine, and €27,500 in cash were seized.

The National Police have dismantled a gang in Manacor that was allegedly trafficking cocaine and marijuana from at least three homes in the municipality. The operation, dubbed Operation Brooks, resulted in ten arrests and the seizure of a significant stash of drugs and cash.

Officers from the Local Judicial Police Brigade of Manacor had been investigating this group for months, which operated in the town. According to sources from the investigation, the suspects sold drugs at retail and had a stable clientele. Investigators estimated that the gang sold about 50 grams of cocaine each day.

Simultaneous raids at dawn

Last Thursday, around half past five in the morning, officers simultaneously raided three homes in Manacor. Some of these served as sales points, storage, or simply the traffickers' residences. In one of the properties, the police encountered a reinforced door, which required the intervention of the Technical Intervention Operational Group (GOIT), dispatched from the mainland.

During the raids, officers seized one kilo of marijuana buds, over €27,500 in cash, jewelry, and tools for the sale and distribution of narcotics, such as a large scale and five small precision scales. Additionally, they confiscated more than 40 grams of cocaine.

Three marijuana plantations and electricity fraud

The operation uncovered three marijuana plantations with a total of 550 plants. The detainees linked to these plantations also face charges of electricity fraud, as they allegedly tampered with connections to power the grow lights at no cost.

The operation involved agents from the Local Judicial Police Brigade, the Local Citizen Security Brigade, the Local Foreigners Brigade, the Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR), Canine Guides, and Aerial Resources dispatched from Palma. Coordination between units was key to the success of the operation.

Civic collaboration, key against drug trafficking

The National Police have reminded that civic collaboration is essential to eradicate drug trafficking. Residents of Manacor can report any suspicious activity anonymously via email at antidroga@policia.es, the website www.policia.es, by contacting Citizen Participation Delegates, or by calling 091.

For the residents of Manacor, this operation brings relief, as the gang operated in the heart of the urban area. The presence of sales points in private homes generated insecurity and constant traffic of buyers, something that is now behind them. The ten detainees will be brought before the judicial authorities in the coming days.
