Ten people have been arrested in a large-scale drug operation in Manacor. The National Police seized 550 marijuana plants, cocaine, and over €27,500 in cash in six simultaneous raids.

National Police agents stormed six homes in Manacor at 5:30 AM on Thursday. The outcome of the operation, which required the deployment of special units, is ten arrests and the seizure of 550 marijuana plants, one kilogram of buds, over 40 grams of cocaine, and €27,500 in cash.

Six simultaneous raids in the city centre

The agents acted in several homes that were functioning as sales points, warehouses, or residences of the alleged traffickers. In one of the properties, they found an indoor marijuana plantation, and near another house, two more plantations. In total, 550 plants. To access one of the homes, which had a reinforced door, the Technical Intervention Operational Group was required, dispatched from the mainland.

In addition to the Local Judicial Police Brigade, agents from Citizen Security, Immigration, the Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR), Canine Guides, and Aerial Units arrived from Palma. Investigators estimate that the detainees were sourcing 50 grams of cocaine daily, the estimated daily sales.

Ten arrests and electricity fraud charges

The ten arrested are suspected of drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal group. Those linked to the marijuana plantations are also charged with electricity fraud, common in this type of indoor cultivation due to high electricity consumption. The operation, carried out on Thursday morning, has dealt a heavy blow to street dealing in Manacor.

For the local residents, the news comes as a relief. “There was strange movement, but we didn't know it was so big,” commented a resident of the street where one of the raids took place. The National Police has reminded that citizen collaboration is key and encourages reporting any suspicious activity.

A blow to local trafficking

The operation is part of the fight against small-scale drug trafficking affecting neighborhoods in Manacor. The amount of cash seized — over €27,500 — and the confiscated jewelry indicate a consolidated business. The detainees will be brought before a judge in the coming hours, while the investigation remains open to determine possible connections with other networks.

The Manacor City Council has expressed its support for the police work and reiterated its commitment to citizen safety. The operation demonstrates that pressure on drug trafficking continues in the Llevant region.
