A 38-year-old Spaniard has been arrested by the Civil Guard after violently attacking the owners of a bar in Lloseta when they told him there was no tobacco. The owner suffered a dislocation and an open wound on his hand, while his wife sustained several bruises.
The Civil Guard has arrested a 38-year-old man, of Spanish nationality, as the alleged perpetrator of an assault on the owners of a bar in Lloseta. The reason: the customer wanted to buy tobacco and was informed that it had run out. The individual's reaction was violent and disproportionate, according to the report.
The events occurred on Friday around 10:00 PM on Avinguda del Cocó, in the heart of Lloseta. The customer, who had already consumed at the establishment, asked for tobacco and, upon learning that it was finished, began to insult the owner, who is of Chinese origin. He did not stop there: according to sources from the investigation, he even spat at her.
The owner asked him to leave, but he, far from calming down, began to throw tables and grabbed a chair with which he struck the woman on the head and back. The husband, also the bar's owner, intervened to defend his wife.
A fight that ended on the ground
The owner managed to wrest the chair from the aggressor and expelled him from the establishment. But the fight continued in the street. The arrested man grabbed another chair and repeatedly attacked the husband, who ended up falling to the ground. Meanwhile, the woman was left dazed from the blows.
When a Civil Guard patrol arrived, the officers found the owner with an open and bleeding wound on one hand. The man suffered a dislocation in a finger and a wound that required stitches, according to the medical report. His wife had several bruises on her head and back, although she did not require hospital admission.
The officers arrested the suspect at the scene. He now faces a charge of assault, and it is not ruled out that he may also be charged with assaulting an officer, as he resisted arrest.
An incident that raises concerns in Lloseta
The assault has caused shock in Lloseta, a municipality of about 6,000 inhabitants where such violent episodes are not common. Residents in the Avinguda del Cocó area expressed surprise at what happened.
“It’s a quiet bar, something like this has never happened before,” commented a neighbour who preferred to remain anonymous.
The bar, run by the couple for years, has remained closed this weekend. The owners, according to close sources, are “very affected” by what occurred and have received numerous expressions of support from regular customers.
The Civil Guard has reminded the importance of reporting any threats or assaults in the hospitality sector. In Lloseta, as in many towns, bars are a meeting point, and incidents like this generate alarm among merchants.
The arrested man, who has a history of similar incidents according to sources from the investigation, will be brought before a judge in the coming hours. It is expected that the judge will order his provisional detention, given the violence of the attack.
For the residents of Lloseta, the recommendation is clear: if someone finds themselves in a similar situation, it is best to call 112 and not attempt to mediate. The assault this Friday, while serious, could have been even worse had the Civil Guard not intervened swiftly.
